Sensing Science Laboratory Software
Sensing Science Laboratory is a comprehensive package comprised of four separate applications. Three of the applications, Graph, Timer and Meter, are for capturing and analyzing sensor measurements. The fourth application, called simply the Workroom, is designed to directly link on-screen experimental worksheets with either the Graph or Timer application.
| Graph | The main program for plotting, tabling and analyzing sensor measurements |
| Timer | A specialized application for timing, velocity and acceleration investigations |
| Meter | An extremely simple application designed for younger students |
| Workroom | The ultimate helper: links on-screen experimental worksheets directly to Graph |
| Graph |
| Graph is Sensing Science Laboratory's premier application. The program is very intuitively designed and is loaded with many analysis and data capture options. To enhance its usability, Graph provides numerous on-screen wizards that provide step-by-step instructions which greatly simplify the various setup and analysis procedures. The list below outlines some of the many features of Graph. | ![]() |
| Timer |
| Timer is a specialized application for investigations into timing and motion. The program works exclusively with the digital range of SmartQ sensors such as Light Gates and Timing Mats. On-screen Wizards quickly enable the student to convert timing data into velocities and accelerations. | ![]() |
| Meter is an ideal application for younger pupils and those seeking a simple introduction into using computers for capturing and displaying sensor readings. Readings can be displayed in formats that will be familiar to most students such as a number, gauge, dial or even a color. | ![]() |
| Workroom |
|
The Workroom dramatically simplifies the software and hardware setup procedures by ingeniously linking activity worksheets directly to the Graph application. After following on-screen experimental setup instructions, a single press of a button located within all worksheets will automatically configure the EasySense's software and hardware. To begin recording data the student simply presses the Graphs 'Start' button. |

Teachers can design their own worksheets or for a reasonable cost Data Harvest will supply a wide assortment of professionally produced activity worksheets on CD. Data Harvest produced worksheets can be easily customized by the end-user in order to accommodate variances in teaching styles and experimental equipment.
The Workroom is very powerful and extremely simple to learn since it utilizes your computer's existing word processor and web browser to produce, edit and view the activity worksheets.
Step 1: Select a worksheet from the Workroom
Step 2: Follow on-screen instructions to setup up the 'real world' experiment and the EasySense data logger.
Step 3: Press the 'Launch Graph' button from with the worksheet to automatically configure the software and hardware's recording parameters.
Step 4: Press the 'Start' button with the Graph application to begin collecting data.
